suratPETALING JAYA: A civil servant has landed in hot soup following her Facebook posting on Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

The Community Development Department (Kemas) employee in Pahang has been issued with a show-cause letter, asking her to explain within seven days why she had put up the offensive posting.

In her posting for the New Year, the woman, who works at a kindergarten in Kuantan, had said that her New Year’s wish was for Najib and Rosmah to “sedar diri” (come to their senses). She also asked deputy minister of International Trade and Industry Ahmad Maslan to stop making “lawak bodoh” (stupid jokes).

The show-cause letter dated January 4, which is currently being circulated on social media, said the woman’s Facebook post could cause negative perceptions and tarnish the reputation of Kemas, the government and civil service.

The woman’s Facebook has been deactivated since.

The signee of the letter is one Ahmad Mazuki Salleh, a Kuantan Kemas officer.

Crime Watch Malaysia chairman R Sri Sanjeevan posted the letter on his Facebook page, asking the government to define what constitutes an acceptable statement and what doesn’t.

“Or, is any form of criticism not allowed?” he asked.
