Anina: We have emerged winners just by trying

Anina says the only real failure is the failure to try and she is not about to quit fighting Najib Razak anytime soon over the RM2.6 billion "donation" he personally received.

PETALING JAYA:
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak may have won the legal battle against former Umno member Anina Saadudin, but the latter has emerged the real winner, having possessed the courage to stand up on behalf of over 30 million Malaysians.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with FMT, Anina said she, along with all Malaysians in search of the truth behind the controversial RM2.6 billion “donation” were not losers merely because the court handed out a verdict in favour of Najib.

The mere fact that an ordinary citizen had successfully taken the country’s number one to court, added Anina, was proof that if there was a will, there was a way.

“If I was the president of Umno, being sued by an ordinary member of my own party would make me feel disgraced. If he has a shred of dignity, he would resign. His move to strike off the case is a clear portrayal of his fear to face due justice in court.

“Where is your dignity, Najib?”

The only real failure in life is the failure to try, Anina said, adding that she was nowhere near done with her attempt to bring justice to the people. With the support and blessings of over 30 million Malaysians, she said she would fight to her very last breath.

“I may not have had the opportunity to speak to all of them (the people), but I can feel the heat radiating from their anger and disappointment. However, despite my failure in the High Court I will not give up. I will take the case to the Court of Appeal and if that too proves to be a failure, there is still the Federal Court.

“If I have to go down to the streets, then that is where I will go. I am not dead, I have not lost this battle and I will not stop until my very last breath.”

Anina on August 28 filed a lawsuit against Najib and Umno executive secretary Ab Rauf Jusoh, seeking for the return of a RM2.6 billion “donation” from an unnamed Middle Eastern donor.

She claimed that by having the donation deposited in his personal bank accounts instead of the party’s, Najib had breached Umno’s Constitution, the provisions of the Societies Act 1966 and his common law duties as a trustee.
