Anwar explains decision to replace Kota Damansara candidate

PH chief Anwar Ibrahim said he was asked by PKR Youth to reconsider his initial choice as there were no PKR Youth candidates in Selangor.

AMPANG:
The last-minute change in candidates for the Kota Damansara seat was due to PKR not fielding youth candidates in Selangor, says PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim.

In a brief statement late last night, Selangor PKR chief Amirudin Shari said PKR president Anwar had handed Izuan Ahmad Kasim his letter of appointment to contest the Aug 12 polls, this after Aidi Amin Yazid was initially named as the coalition’s candidate for the seat.

“PKR Youth asked me to reconsider as there were no PKR Youth candidates contesting in Selangor… Izuan is the Selangor PKR Youth chief, so we think it’s appropriate,” said Anwar during a press conference at a restaurant here.
