Since the inception of mankind, humans have found a solution to every problem.
From creating the wheel to inventing the internet, one can also say that it is human nature to overcome obstacles using creativity.
However, in every social group, there will be individuals with weak mindsets who rather focus on the problem, and individuals with strong mindsets who prefer finding solutions so a goal can be achieved.
That being said, let’s look at the reasons why some people see problems rather than solutions.
People with weak mindsets:
• don’t like being in unfamiliar territory
People with weak mindsets struggle to change a bad habit. They start out optimistic but as the days go by, they slowly begin to revert to their old ways simply because they feel uncomfortable in unfamiliar territory.
In these instances, they tend to devise excuses or find “problems” with the new goal to justify their lack of commitment to see it through.
If you find yourself in this situation, try breaking down your goals into simpler, more achievable ones so that it seems less daunting.
• are rattled by self-doubt
It’s quite normal to second-guess yourself, especially when trying something new. Be it a new hobby or a new fitness goal, many people end up doubting themselves once they begin.
In fact, this feeling of doubt and ambiguity will make even the most confident person say, “I can’t do this”.
To avoid this inner conflict, go easy on yourself and always remind yourself about why you embarked on this new goal in the first place.
• harbour irrational fears
Whether you’re about to speak to a large audience or deliver a work-related presentation for the first time, trying something new can be intimidating.
The underlying reason for these jitters is that most people are afraid of facing rejection or being judged by others.
To get out of this rut, ask yourself why you are afraid and list down all the things that come to mind. You can also read inspirational stories about others who conquered their irrational fears.

• wait for the perfect moment
Some people plan thoroughly for a goal they wish to achieve. However, when it comes to putting that plan into action, many don’t simply because they’re waiting for the perfect moment to launch it.
However, in real life, there is no perfect moment. You just have to take a leap of faith at some point if you want your goals to see the light of day.
• lack motivation
People with weak mindsets struggle to find motivation to better themselves. They are either too accepting of the status quo or refuse to venture out of their comfort zone to find the success they so crave.
However, finding strong motivating factors can help you overcome the dread of forming a new habit or achieving a new goal.
Now that we’ve seen how weak mindsets can hamper a goal from being achieved, let’s look at how strong people create solutions that bring goals to fruition.
People with strong mindsets:
• practise objectivity
Some people fail to realise that achieving a goal is a process. They tend to focus solely on the goal itself and ignore the external factors that could be warning signs of impending trouble.
People with strong mindsets on the other hand, focus on applying a specific solution to the problem rather than going with a one-size-fits-all approach.
• tackle problems in a comprehensive way
If you want to solve a problem, list all the issues that have cropped up as oftentimes these are connected with each other. This method helps to solve issues in a comprehensive way.

• seize opportunities
Great opportunities are often present within simple problems and strong people recognise this. To a greater extent, they look at external factors to prevent any future problems. They are also excellent at identifying the root causes of problems.
• are expert communicators
It’s a known fact that most problems can be avoided with proper communication. Problem solvers are master communicators who effortlessly communicate with different individuals to achieve goals and targets. They are also very adept at motivating others.
• take action
It is very easy in today’s world to get lost in numbers, data, and statistics. Although doing sufficient research is necessary, you can never solve a problem by research alone.
Strong people are decisive and take action based on their research to solve problems.
• put ego aside
Great problem-solvers find joy in solving issues without bothering who takes credit for it. In this sense, having an open mindset is crucial for problem-solving.
In the end, any person can be considered weak or strong. It all depends on how they decide to act. So, do you have a strong or weak mindset?
