Gardenia introduces healthy, newly rebranded range

Major bread producer Gardenia has seen a spike in consumer demand for healthier food options, especially in the past year.

Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd today launched its newly rebranded Gardenia Breakthru range, featuring two variants — Whole Wheat (RM4.00) and Wholemeal with Canadian Purple Wheat (RM4.60).

The variants were previously known as Gardenia Wholemeal and Gardenia Canadian Purple Wheat. The rebranding effort is part of Gardenia Breakthru’s strategy to promote healthier grain loaves, in line with rising consumer demand for more nutritious food options.

According to Gardenia Bakeries marketing manager Ena Suhaila, these grain loaves contain eight healthy and nutritious benefits, trademarked as 8CTIVE. “This grain range is the perfect choice for Malaysians as their first step toward healthier living.

“Gardenia Breakthru not only meets the stringent standards of the Ministry of Health, but is also approved by those who subscribe to healthier lifestyles, be it mothers who care for their family or active individuals who want to eat healthier,” she said.

In conjunction with the launch, national cycling ace Azizulhasni Awang was introduced as the brand ambassador for Gardenia Breakthru.

“It is a great honour for me to be appointed as the first brand face and ambassador for Gardenia Breakthru. I relate to the values that Gardenia Breakhthru represents for I believe I can overcome barriers, no matter how hard and overwhelming,” he said.

During the event, Azizulhasni also shared the good news that he was recovering well from heart surgery earlier this year. In fact, he already has his eye on the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

“The fighting spirit in him makes him the perfect candidate to represent the values of Gardenia Breakthru,” said Ena.

She said she hoped the collaboration between Gardenia Breakthru and Azizulhasni would instill a stronger sense of wellness amongst Malaysians and promote a resilient mentality through its brand promise — “Break Through All Barriers”.

Gardenia Breakthru is widely distributed and available throughout Peninsular Malaysia.
