Needless to say, Malaysians will be looking forward to a year of happiness, health and prosperity and what better way to celebrate than with an extravagant feast with family and friends!

Why not leave the kitchen idle this Chinese New Year and treat your loved ones to a grand feast in The Living Room at The Westin Kuala Lumpur?
This year, Chinese sous chef, Steven Swee and his talented team will be cooking up a storm of celebratory dishes.
From Jan 3 to Feb 5, this established restaurant will present a variety of meals to add colour and flavour to any Chinese New Year gathering.
But first, the tossing of Yee Sang and The Living Room is offering a variety of delicious Yee Sang this year.

These include the Spring Fresh Salmon Yee Sang, Sliced Abalone Yee Sang, Prosperity Yee Sang with Jellyfish and Eat Well Yee Sang.
The latter is part of The Living Room’s endeavour to promote a healthy lifestyle and as such, uses only natural fruits and vegetables.
Throughout the festive period, the Happiness Reunion set menu will be made available for lunch and dinner.
Curated by chef Steven, this RM688 set for four includes six courses, largely authentic Cantonese creations that taste of home and hearth.

On the menu are Spring Festive Salmon Yee Sang, Double Boiled Soup with Abalone, Baked Phyllo Salmon with Cream Mushroom Sauce, Steamed Village Chicken with Fried Garlic, Black Gold Brushed Fried Rice with Shrimp, Chilled Chrysanthemum Jelly and a complimentary bottle of red or white house wine.
Prefer the buffet experience? Worry not as the selection awaiting you is truly delicious.
So, what’s up for the taking this year? Well, everything but the kitchen sink, really. There are the classic Chinese New Year dishes as well as some welcomed additions.

The Smoked Duck Slice with Peanut Sauce is a winner, with its savoury meat infused with strong flavours and sinful juice.
The Braised Whole Duck in Shanghai Style is yet another duck option that will not disappoint. With its dark brown and crispy skin, all eyes will likely be on this succulent dish which will leave you stuffed quite quickly!
The Chilled Chicken Roll with Jelly Fish Salad is one cold treat which makes for a tasty appetiser, with something of a crunch behind it.

Fresh from the sea, are Chef Steven’s pride and joy – Steamed Seabass Fillet and Red Snapper Fillet,.
He encourages guests to savour these with his selection of condiments – Kam Heong Sauce, Hong Kong Sauce, Ginger Sauce, Szechuan Sauce and Garlic Oil.
The Deep-Fried Golden Perch with Jiang Zheng Sauce is also likely to steal some attention with its sheer size promising plenty of meat for one and all.
For folks fond of the bottle, take heart as the buffet comes with a free flow of draught beers and special cocktails. Bookings for parties of six and above get a free bottle of red or white wine too!
Also available throughout the festive season is Chef Steven’s Special Takeaway menu, but remember to order three days in advance.

You can also celebrate the new year in the comfort of your home while enjoying the Premium Prosperity Treasure Pot featuring Braised Abalone Poon Choi with Vegetables in a Claypot.
Alternatively, treat yourself and your loved ones to the Clay Pot Village Chicken Butter Rice with Mushroom. Both options serve up to eight.
Looking for a memorable gift? Why not consider the gorgeous tiffin set, courtesy of The Westin? In addition to the detailed metalwork, the tiffin set comes with a gift hamper, including snacks, tea packs, nian gao and herb ingredients for a Double Boiled Black Chicken with Black Garlic.
