The FMT team had the privilege to dine in some of these restaurants during a recent three-night Port Klang-Penang-Singapore round-trip cruise hosted by Resorts World Cruises and Tourism Selangor.

Dream Dining Lower Restaurant* [NON-HALAL]

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the Dream Dining Lower Restaurant. But be warned – the wide buffet spread here will leave you scratching your head as to where to start or what to choose.

Eggs are always a good option – scrambled, sunny side up or omelette – and are perfect with a slice of hot, buttered toast and crispy pork bacon on the side.

The banana pancakes are soft and fluffy, and best enjoyed with a generous helping of maple syrup. Other items on the menu include traditional favourites like nasi lemak, congee and a selection of dim sum, as well as healthy options from the salad bar, cold cuts, and fruits.

Besides a team of attentive and friendly staff at your beck and call, the stunning ocean views make breakfast all the more memorable.

Lido Restaurant*

The buffet here is extravagant as there is a variety of international and Asian cuisines to choose from, including halal and vegetarian options.

And since you’re on holiday, forget the calories and make straight for the sumptuous Nasi Dalca, a dish that easily demands a second helping. Aromatic and flavourful with tantalising hints of spice, it begs to be enjoyed with the Braised Ginger Beef or the Braised Chicken with Coconut Gravy.

But don’t forget your veggies! The Stir-Fried Long Beans with Egg is a good place to start. This dish is full of taste and texture and makes your meal a nicely balanced affair.

Fancy some dessert? You can’t go wrong with the Strawberry Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Cream Cheese Cake, Strawberry Jelly or Banana Cream Cheese Cake – sweet indulgences best enjoyed with a cup of hot coffee or tea.

Silk Road Restaurant [NON-HALAL]

Fancy having Chinese for dinner? Why not make your way to the Silk Road Restaurant for an extravagant meal that feeds your eyes as much as it does your belly.

FMT’s picks are the pan-fried scallops paired with roasted duck drizzled in black truffle sauce. Plated like a work of art, it’s a feast for the eyes as well.

The double-boiled abalone and chicken soup with fresh ginseng meanwhile is hearty and comforting while the baked cod fish with teriyaki sauce is truly a dish to remember.

Another seafood offering is the braised fish stomach stuffed with prawn paste and the equally tempting black mushroom in crab meat sauce. If that sounds luxurious, imagine the magic these flavours make on your taste buds.

The baked Kurabuta pork roll served with scallion fried rice is also mouthwatering – tender pieces of meat paired beautifully with tasty fried rice.

The chilled avocado cream with hasma and pistachios is rich and creamy, making it the perfect dessert to end the meal with.

Overall, with its elegant ambiance and exquisite dishes, dining in this restaurant is a delightful affair.
