An air fryer is one of those appliances that some think is a waste of money and counter space, but those who use it frequently will say it is a time-saver that’s worth every ringgit.

If you’re a fan of pasta and cheese, here’s a recipe with a twist. A homemade pizza crust, some macaroni, and smoked duck will result in a unique and deliciously stringy dish!

As with most things in life, what you put in is what you get to enjoy in the end, so selecting quality ingredients is of utmost importance. This includes the flour you use, the meat, pasta, sauce, and of course, the cheese itself.

First, here’s a simple homemade pizza dough recipe, using a conventional oven:

  • 110g bread flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Method

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  • Mix all the ingredients into a ball.
  • Turn off the oven, and place the dough in a greased container.
  • Cover it with a cloth and allow it to proof in the heated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the dough and “degas” it by punching it several times. Roll the dough back into a ball and put it back into the oven to proof for another half hour.
  • Once done, remove the dough, split it into two balls, and flatten each with a rolling pin. Your pizza bases are ready.
  • Alternatively, you can use a readymade pizza base (like any newbie or lazybones)!

Now on to the pizza itself:

Ingredients

  • shredded mozzarella (as much as you want)
  • 7-8 slices of smoked duck breast
  • a handful of cooked macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons tomato puree
  • prepared pizza bases

Method

  • Place the pizza base in the air fryer and cook for three minutes at 200°C.
  • Open and apply tomato puree on the dough. Add a handful of mozzarella, plus three to four pieces of smoked duck.
  • Add a handful of macaroni, and top with even more cheese.
  • Air-fry for another 7 minutes at 200°C.
  • Remove and garnish with some fresh basil. Serve hot.

The result is an awesome macaroni-smoked duck pizza, with lots of stringy, cheesy goodness. The whole thing only takes about 12 minutes to make if you have the dough prepared in advance. Enjoy!
