KUALA LUMPUR:
Step into this restaurant and you will immediately be transported to Havana, with Cuban elements evident in the decor all the way to the delectable items on its menu.

Located on the rooftop of NU Sentral here, Havana Dining Kuala Lumpur opened in November 2019 to commemorate the 500th year of the founding of the Cuban capital.

Forced to close for two years owing to the pandemic, it has recently reopened and is ready to serve customers authentic cuisine inspired by the Caribbean nation.

Havana Dining offers a wide range of dishes, from meats and seafood to pasta and even Asian-themed cuisine, all of it pork-free.

From seafood to pasta and even Asian dishes, Havana Dining serves exquisite fare that will titillate your taste buds. (Moganraj Villavan @ FMT Lifestyle pic)

Start your tantalising food journey with the Ensalada De Pechuga, featuring the chef’s secret recipe of Cuban spice rubbed on a fillet of chicken breast and served with healthy greens and pico de gallo, a form of Mexican salsa.

The rich Mexican and Cuban flavours take this simple chicken dish to a whole new level.

Then there’s the Pollo Guantanamera, a Cajun-spiced seared chicken breast served with black bean rice and topped with pumpkin puree and wild mushroom gravy. For those who prefer a little spicy kick, this is the perfect dish for you!

The Cordero En Vino Rojo is another dish you mustn’t miss at Havana Dining, which promises the freshest ingredients for optimal quality and taste.

The main star is the baby lamb shank that has been slowly braised for over four hours, resulting in meat so tender it slides off the bone smoothly.

The restaurant also serves a number of seafood dishes. Noteworthy is the Monochrome of Salmon, which boasts the luscious red fish cured in beetroot juice, and served with sweet beetroot puree and beetroot dust.

The buttery fresh salmon combined with the sweet root vegetable creates a burst of delectable flavours in your mouth. Delicious!

Other offerings include the Asian-fusion grilled rack of lamb with cumin, with potatoes and mango chilli pickle; and the Filete de Pescado al Ajillo – a baked fillet of barramundi served with arborio rice and roasted mushroom, with the chef’s homemade Asian bouillabaisse.

And of course, no meal is complete without dessert. The churros at Havana Dining are its bestseller: golden-brown sticks drizzled with chocolate ganache and served with strawberry pickle and cinnamon cream.

Fun fact: in Cuba, on the streets of Old Havana, people can be seen forming long queues for this fried-dough dessert from its famed churro carts!

Also delectable are the specialty cakes of the day, which are made in-house. The chocolate cake served with strawberries is moist, rich and melt-in-your-mouth – a dessert so good, you will find yourself gobbling it up in seconds.

Havana Dining is the perfect place for personal or corporate get-togethers, with packages available to accommodate different types of events. So awaken your taste buds and indulge in the best Cuban-inspired meals KL has to offer – it just might, as singer Camila Cabello says, have you leaving “half your heart in Havana”.
