Unfortunately, the Rasa Food Arena in Suria KLCC falls into the latter category, announcing on social media that it will be ceasing operations from today.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the permanent closure of Rasa Food Arena Suria KLCC from Sept 1, 2021,” it said in its Instagram post.
“Thank you for your patronage over the wonderful 22 years. It has been our ultimate pleasure to serve you.”
Visitors to Suria KLCC were also greeted with a sign placed in the now-silent food court bearing the same message.
The Rasa Food Arena was located on the fourth floor of the shopping centre. In better days, it would be packed during lunch and dinner times, which was unsurprising given the large variety of stalls.

Netizens have reacted to the news with sorrow, some blaming the economic situation.
Facebook user Cynthia Gan posted: “Never thought the last time I ate there would really be the very last time indeed.”
Another user, Bernard WH, wrote, “This pandemic has taken a toll on them. What a sad end.”
Others lamented the loss of an affordable food option in a shopping mall dominated by higher-end gourmet restaurants.
Despite restaurants being allowed to open for dine-in, many establishments are still struggling due to the high numbers of Covid cases and an apprehensive public.
How long the situation is going to last, and how many businesses are doomed to go under, remains to be seen.
