For those of you who are looking for more options to enjoy some juicy and crispy Hainanese chicken chop, look no further as Laoyang Klang Coffee will satisfy your cravings.

Laoyang is located at the end of Jalan Kapar, near Klang town, a stone’s throw away from the famous New Boston restaurant that serves some of the best steamed lala in all of Klang Valley.

There’s ample parking space right outside the restaurant, since the area itself isn’t usually terribly busy, especially on a weekend when surrounding shops are closed for business.

The restaurant has a very simple set up with hints of a hipster vibe, but one on a budget.

The two-page menu features enough choices to satisfy most people. Here you’ll find classics such as Hainan mee, pork chop, chicken chop, and various types of nasi lemak. There’s also a few types of charcoal-toasted bread and a choice of beverage not dissimilar from the usual kopitiam offerings.

For starters, you should try the toast bread with kaya and butter. Crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, the toast is a brilliant breakfast dish. The sweet and aromatic blend of kaya and butter is just on point especially with a hot cup of coffee.

The real star at this coffee shop however, is the delicious nasi lemak and it’s super-spicy sambal. It comes with various sides such as fried chicken, ayam masak merah, or even sambal ayam, all of which will have you coming back for more.

Another mainstay dish here is the classic Hainanese chicken chop. True, there are probably other places that offer more special versions of this dish, however, Laoyang’s version holds its own.

It features all the necessary ingredients, which is a mixture of sweetness with hints of umami that lets you know it is just a little bit sinful, but in a good way. Definitely worth the visit once lockdown restrictions are lifted.
