For those who are unfamiliar with lontong, it is a dish that originated in Indonesia but can also be found in Johor and Singapore.
The Malaysian version, in particular, is mainly made of nasi impit (similar to ketupat) and served with coconut milk-based soup with a few other ingredients.
While not very common in Klang Valley, there are quite a few places that offer lontong — if you look hard enough. One of the more popular spots to enjoy this delicious rice cake dish is at Lontong Klang.
As the name suggests, the shop (or brand, rather) did take root in Klang, but it has since expanded to neighbouring areas with several branches. This branch in particular is in Shah Alam Seksyen 7.
Apart from the titular dish served at Lontong Klang, those who have an appetite for more can have a go at the nasi lemak.

The process is simple; line up and choose whether you’d like a lontong biasa (plain lontong at RM5), or one with sotong (squid), special, special sotong, ayam (chicken), or ayam sotong (chicken and squid).
The lontong comes with springy nasi impit, a small bergedil (deep fried potato patty), some cabbage, half-boiled egg, tofu, tempeh, and even some serunding (meat floss).
All these offerings are, of course, soaked in a fragrant and mouthwatering santan-based broth.
Each ingredient here is quite tasty on its own, but the whole combination truly made the dish enjoyable.
