Sliders are difficult to resist, especially when you’re at a party surrounded by friends, good music and a relaxed atmosphere.
No matter what’s in them, you’re guaranteed to wolf down one after another before washing it all done with a nice chilled drink.
However, with the pandemic, there are no parties to attend and we are, sadly, confined to our homes.
But that doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy some sliders while in our pajamas and enjoying our latest Netflix shows!
Here’s a simple recipe for Malaysian-style sliders that will incorporate some local flavour into the mix. You know what they say: when you can’t go to the party, bring the party to you!
Ingredients:
- 200g wheat flour
- 140ml milk
- 2 teaspoons dry yeast
- 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cucumber, sliced thinly
- A batch of your favourite chicken sambal
- 1 cup of oil
Method:
- Mix the flour, milk, sugar, salt and dry yeast in a bowl.
- Roll the dough until it is not sticking to the hands and let it rest for 15 minutes until it doubles in size.
- Beat the dough down to release the extra air and divide it into eight portions. Let the balls of dough rest and double in size.
- Heat the oil in a wok on medium heat and fry the dough balls until golden brown. Dust the hands with a little flour so the dough does not stick.
- When the calls have cooled slightly, cut them in half and sandwich a slice of cucumber and half a tablespoon of chicken sambal in the middle and serve.
