NON-HALAL: Ask anyone about prawn mee in Penang and chances are the name Old Green House kopitiam will be in the top 10, doubly so if the list is created by the younger crowd who like to continue the party after hours with supper.
The prawn mee stall at Old Green House is the perfect choice for those who enjoy their prawn mee for dinner or in the wee hours as this stall operates from 6pm until 3am.
In addition to the usual ingredients of prawns and egg, a choice of mee or mee hoon and slices of pork, there is a host of additional extras to choose from depending on availability – from pork intestine, ribs, meatballs, pork skin, roast pork and even sausages.
In addition, it can be enjoyed with the classic prawn mee soup, loh mee or a mix of the two (recommended).
A standard small portion goes for RM6 and additional ingredients are RM1.20 to RM3.

The soup is flavourful and ingredients are plentiful but what is missing was the classic kangkung. But the intestine and roast pork did give it that extra edge, and another visit to try the pork skin is in the works.
