Fernando Alonso launches custom 3D-printed ebike

Ahead of the first-ever F1 Grand Prix in Miami, former world champion and current Alpine driver Fernando Alonso presented the very first electric bike sold under his Kimoa brand.

It stands out from competitor models with its customisation options and, especially, its 3D-printed design, which can be adapted to suit the body shape of each individual owner.

Kimoa, a fashion apparel and accessories brand launched by the Spanish automotive champion in 2017, is adding an electric bike to its catalogue. Made to measure in carbon fibre, this project is in collaboration with Arevo, a 3D-printing specialist.

Each frame is formed as a single, particularly strong and impact-resistant part, and is unique. This unibody construction is 3D printed entirely in carbon fibre, with no joints or glue for flawless resistance.

These new-generation thermoplastic materials also make the frame remarkably light. Each will be specially tailored to the rider’s weight, arm and leg length, and riding position.

In total, there are nearly 500,000 possible combinations!

The manufacturer announces that the ebike battery can be fully recharged in just two hours, for a range estimated at a little under 90km.

Finally, an online tool allows buyers to customise the style (urban or sporty, handlebar type, number of gears), the finish (frame colour, lights) and the riding position (saddle height).
