PETALING JAYA:
Kodomo is doubling down on early oral care with the launch of its new Probiotic Children’s Toothpaste, aimed at helping parents protect their children’s teeth from a young age.

The latest formula moves beyond basic cleaning by supporting a healthier oral environment. It is designed to help repair early signs of tooth decay within 14 days, while natural probiotics work to balance oral bacteria – offering a gentler, preventive approach to cavities.

The toothpaste also contains vitamin E to support gum health, alongside 5% xylitol and age-appropriate fluoride to strengthen enamel and guard against decay.

Free from sugar, SLS and parabens, the formulation is suitable for daily use. It comes in fruity flavours to make brushing more enjoyable, encouraging children to build consistent habits early on.

For many parents, getting children to brush properly remains a daily struggle, often compounded by concerns over hidden sugars and early cavities. According to Kodomo, the new range is designed with these challenges in mind, combining effective care with a more enjoyable brushing experience.

Dental caries, commonly known as cavities, remain one of the most common oral health issues among young children, frequently developing earlier than expected. If left untreated, they can lead to discomfort, infection and longer-term complications.

“We’re seeing early signs of decay appear much sooner in children today,” said Tomotaka Oka, managing director at Southern Lion.

“For many parents, oral care is not just about brushing – it’s about knowing they are doing the right thing for their child. With our Probiotic Toothpaste, we wanted to go beyond basic cleaning to support early intervention while making brushing a routine children can enjoy,” Oka added.

The range is tailored to different age groups. Children aged six months to five years use a 600 ppm fluoride variant in the flavour of Strawberry Milk, while those aged six and above get a 1,000 ppm fluoride version in Peach Berry.

Kodomo is also promoting its Soft and Slim toothbrush range as well, which features tapered bristles for cleaning along gumlines and between teeth, as well as thumb grips and suction bases to help children handle and store their brushes independently.

To raise awareness, the brand is hosting the Kodomo Probiotics Roadshow 2026 at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur from April 13-19.

The event features superhero-themed activities, including movement-based games, photo sessions and a spin-and-win contest, all designed to make oral health education more engaging for children.

Backed by Japan’s Lion Corporation, Kodomo continues to position itself as a trusted choice for parents seeking safe and effective oral care solutions for their children.
