Skinnylegs Barbeque is one spot redefining Klang’s food scene with its scrumptious fare – from barbecue to pizza, pasta, burgers and more.
It’s an eatery waiting to be discovered, nestled along Jalan Raya Barat and within walking distance of two well-known schools in the city – Methodist Girls School and Methodist Anglo-Chinese School Klang.
Inside, a cosy and inviting ambience with earthy tones and relaxed vibes awaits. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger just a little longer over good food and great company.
Skinnylegs Barbeque was founded by Yuvan Vydelingum, who hails from Mauritius, and his wife, Pravina Nair, a Klangite.
They started as a home-based business in 2020 when the pandemic hit, offering just one item – Cajun whole grilled chicken. Soon, word spread, and they expanded their offerings before opening the restaurant in June 2022.

Yuvan, who has almost 20 years’ experience working as a chef in Perth and Dubai, brings his expertise to the mouthwatering fusion menu.
As for the quirky name? “We were sitting outside in the garden, and I had a few cans of beer. I said, ‘We need to find a catchy name’. I was wearing shorts, and I saw my legs – they were so skinny,” recalled Yuvan, 39. And lo and behold, Skinnylegs Barbeque was born.

“We hope that you come, try our food and feel the depth of thought, care and love that we put into it,” shared Nair, 42.
So, what’s the verdict? The smoked pork ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and downright addictive. Marinated and sous-vide for 24 hours, each bite burst with rich, smoky flavours.

The Portuguese grilled chicken thigh is another winner. Marinated overnight, the meat was tender and juicy, with a pleasant hint of smokiness from the grill. Served with crispy fries and fresh salad, it’s the kind of meal that leaves you full and content.
If you’re a seafood lover, you’ll enjoy the paprika grilled tiger prawns: fresh, juicy and enriched by the earthy spice of paprika.

The spiced perch fillet with smoked eggplant is delicious – the fish was firm yet flaky, its delicate flavours beautifully complemented by the creamy coconut sauce. The eggplant, first barbecued, then caramelised, added a comforting sweetness that made every bite memorable.
Or try the chilli mussels – fresh New Zealand mussels with a tender, plump texture. The chillies delivered a gentle heat, giving the dish just the right kick without overwhelming the palate. Served with sourdough garlic bread, it was pure comfort on a plate.

The mutton varuval pizza, another standout, is where east meats (pun intended) west in a delicious way.
The crust was light and crispy, making it the perfect carrier for the mutton varuval. The dough, Yuvan shared, was made in-house while the spicy and delicious varuval is his wife’s family recipe.
One slice and you’ll want the whole pizza for yourself! Other tempting pizza options include smoked duck and creamy pork bacon, along with classics such as margherita and chicken.
Do take note, however, that pizzas are only available from 5.30pm onwards.

Pair your food with the Citrus Crush or Strawberry Soda for a refreshing finish that’s perfect for the tropics.
Overall, Skinnylegs Barbeque is a memorable food experience, the kind that lingers on your mind, and has you planning your next visit even before you’ve left.
