The former travel agent decided to change paths after her workplace shut down in late 2022. After being captivated by 3D jelly art on TikTok, she was inspired to take a basic course in Johor Bahru to master the technique.
“Since there is stiff competition in the cake-making sector, I opted for 3D jelly, which is more unique,” she told Bernama at her home in Kampung Belukar Juling, Endau, here.
“The process of making the 3D jellies is rather complex and requires skill, but each order is exciting and challenging in its own way,” the 40-year-old added.
Norazila, who has a diploma in tourism management, started her business with an initial investment of RM1,000, which went into buying tools such as the special needles required to create the 3D designs, as well as utensils and ingredients.
She shared that at one point, she was able to make up to RM7,000 in a month from orders.
Norazila noted that the mildly sweet taste of the jellies makes it suitable for people of all ages, including vegetarians.
Using basic ingredients such as jelly powder, water, sugar and milk, and a simple cooking process to produce jellies with different patterns and flavours, her customisable products are suitable for various occasions – from cartoon-themed birthdays to engagements and weddings.
“Each 3D jelly can take up to 20 hours to complete, as they require precision to ensure the best texture and durability,” she explained.
The treats can last up to 24 hours at room temperature, and remain fresh for up to five days in the chiller.
Looking ahead, Norazila plans to expand her market in Mersing while introducing more innovative designs in 3D jelly art.
