KUALA LUMPUR:
Batik Air is thrilled to announce the return of its highly anticipated direct service from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX), commencing on Dec 15.

This exciting comeback marks Batik Air’s renewed commitment to Japan following the suspension of its previous Kuala Lumpur–Osaka connection via Taipei on Dec 7, 2024, which was operated with the Boeing 737.

Now, with the deployment of the wide-body Airbus A330, travellers can enjoy a superior long-haul experience with 12 Business Class seats and 365 Economy Class seats, providing greater comfort, space, and connectivity.

The service will operate three times weekly, offering travellers a convenient and comfortable direct link to Japan’s cultural and culinary capital.

Welcoming the opportunity to serve Osaka once again, Batik Air chief executive officer, Chandran Rama Muthy, said this is one of the most anticipated routes in Batik Air’s network.

“Japan continues to be a dream destination for many Malaysians, and Osaka holds a unique charm with its rich history, vibrant urban culture, and extraordinary food scene.

“By reintroducing this route on the A330, we are not only reconnecting two dynamic cities but also elevating the journey with added comfort and convenience,” he said.

He added that alongside Batik Air’s current daily Kuala Lumpur–Tokyo (Narita) flights, travellers will now enjoy more flexibility, flying into Osaka and returning from Tokyo, or vice versa – both with direct connections to Kuala Lumpur.

“With the introduction of the larger Airbus A330, we look forward to welcoming even more travellers in the years ahead.”

Osaka, Japan’s third-largest city, is often celebrated as the nation’s “Kitchen of Japan”, where culinary adventures abound – piping-hot takoyaki to hearty okonomiyaki and Michelin-starred dining.

Beyond food, travellers can immerse themselves in Osaka Castle’s timeless beauty, shop and wander through the neon-lit Dōtonbori district, and experience Universal Studios Japan, one of Asia’s most popular theme parks.

The return of the Kuala Lumpur–Osaka service reflects Batik Air’s strategic growth in North Asia, strengthening Malaysia’s aviation links and supporting two-way tourism.

Japan remains one of the most sought-after destinations for Malaysian travellers, especially during the winter and cherry blossom seasons, while Malaysia continues to welcome a growing number of Japanese visitors seeking its beaches, heritage cities, and diverse cultural experiences.

This renewed connection is timely as the nation prepares for Visit Malaysia 2026, encouraging greater Japanese arrivals to the country while further strengthening KLIA’s position as a key transit hub with seamless connections to destinations in Indonesia, across Asean, and beyond.

Batik Air’s A330 flights will ensure that both leisure and business travellers can now fly directly and comfortably, with thoughtfully designed cabins and services that make the journey as memorable as the destination itself.

Fares for the Kuala Lumpur–Osaka route start from RM599 for Economy Class and RM3,599 for Business Class, one-way, all-in.
