Inspired by distinctive Sarawakian culture, Wan envisioned a space that would encourage self-expression and healthy lifestyles.
Prior to establishing Nibbles Café, Wan embarked on an inspiring and transformative journey, and now continues to grow as an entrepreneur.
Wan’s path to entrepreneurship
Having earned a degree in Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Honours) in Team Entrepreneurship, Wan credits the Taylor’s University programme for equipping him with the essential skills and real-world experience he needed to navigate the business landscape with confidence.
This first-of-its-kind programme, inspired by global entrepreneurship models from the renowned Finnish Team Academy programme, takes a unique hands-on approach.
The programme is built around three core strands: The Enterprise Strand, where students create real ventures; The Team Strand, where students manage team companies; and The Individual Strand, which focuses on personal development.
Starting as early as Semester 1, students actively engage in a structured process of building a business alongside BizPod, Taylor’s University’s start-up incubator.
BizPod provides students with the essential resources they need for prototyping, marketing, and scaling their ventures, enabling them to launch fully established start-ups while still studying.
By combining practical support with real-world learning experiences, the programme empowers students to take on calculated risks, a crucial step in entrepreneurial growth as demonstrated by Wan’s own journey.

One of the programme’s standout features, Wan asserted, was its mentorship programme, which includes coaching by industry experts, who provide insights and practical guidance.
These programmes are conducted through regular mentoring classes and workshops, with each session focusing on the latest market trends, business challenges, and innovative solutions.
Better yet, mentors also help students expand their networking opportunities. This programme helped immensely in preparing Wan for his journey as an aspiring entrepreneur.
Wan said: “Beyond mentorship, I also developed key skills such as communication, problem-solving, strategic planning, and risk assessment -essential for navigating today’s fast-paced business world.”
Dr Zalena Mohd, Programme Director of Taylor’s University’s Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Honours) in Team Entrepreneurship, takes pride in witnessing students turn their ideas into business ventures, much like Wan did.
Current students in the programme have also generated impressive returns totalling RM30,000 from a single project, demonstrating their competitive and ambitious spirit, and attesting to the programme’s real-world impact in shaping future business leaders.

Overcoming the challenges of a young entrepreneur
Wan highlighted that one of his biggest challenges was creating a smooth and efficient logistics system, such as recruiting employees, mostly because ensuring that members of the work force uphold the company’s values, vision, and mission is vital in maintaining quality service.
Overcoming this challenge, although tough, is important so businesses can adapt to entrepreneurial challenges in addition to enhancing operational efficiency.
Wan said he believed that in order to combat these challenges, a strong mindset helped one in looking at these not as obstacles but as learning experiences instead.
