These food markets are a beloved tradition, offering its visitors the chance to break their fasts with an incredible array of delicious dishes.

Wangsa Maju, KL

Spanning a lengthy distance of 500m, the Wangsa Maju Ramadan Bazaar is believed to be the longest in the country.

Local favourites such as Roti John, murtabak, nasi lemak, kebabs and fried fritters are all in abundant supply at the 300-plus stalls here.

With about 160 stalls, this bustling Bayan Lepas venue is considered to be the largest in Penang.

Its vibrant ambience offers visitors a wonderful opportunity to experience Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage, while embracing the warmth of the holy month.

Penang is known for its exquisite street food, and this market is the perfect place to try local delicacies such as char kuey teow, cendol and asam laksa.

If it’s more exotic fare you’re seeking, look out for the stall selling mouthwatering meatball carbonara.

One of its highlights is Alex Kitchen, a kedai mualaf (Muslim convert’s eatery) serving halal versions of traditional fare such as kampua and kolok merah.

The bazaar offers a wide selection of culinary delights, from lemang, sotong goreng and kuih-muih to sushi and artisanal doughnuts.
