To avoid this problem, why not visit a waterpark at night? Every Friday and Saturday this month, popular theme park SplashMania @ Gamuda Cove will keep its gates open long after sunset, allowing visitors to enjoy its iconic rides beneath the velvety cloak of night.
At “Night Splash!”, billed as the first night waterpark in Selangor, you can take in the thrills and spills of 24 waterslides and 15 key park attractions. Grab a towel, some goggles and a swimsuit – you won’t be needing suntan lotion – and prepare for a splash-tacular time under the stars!
There’s certainly plenty to enjoy here. The Typhoon Terror, inspired by a slalom ski experience, will blow riders away with its sudden drops and dips. The Shaka Waka combines special lighting and audio effects with a twisting, turning plunge to create a high-speed aquatic adventure like no other.
Competitive types can head over to the Maniac Racers attraction, where up to four people compete to see who can ride a board down a crazy slope the quickest.
The most (in)famous ride here has to be the Wild Rush: featuring long looping tunnels, breakneck curves, and tight 360° loops, this wacky waterslide definitely lives up to its name.

Younger visitors can also enjoy a host of family-friendly and kid-sized activities. FMT Lifestyle recommends the Treasure Tower, a monolith of slides and flumes for kids to climb and explore.
Watching the cauldron at the top slowly fill with water before splashing down in mighty torrents on unsuspecting people is a fun sight indeed!
If all the excitement gets too much for you, then head down to the Ravage River and relax on its gentle current, which will carry you all around the park. You’ll find floating on a tube in the moonlight a strangely calming experience, and there are attractions for you to enjoy along the way, such as Rain Shooters, Bubbly Dip, and the Wave Ball Pool.
Some of the waterslides require a bit of stair-climbing to get to the top, which can get tiring, so pace yourself. Still, as William Shakespeare (probably) said, the greater the climb, the greater the splash: the giddy thrill of rocketing down a waterslide at incredible speeds is definitely worth the effort!

Furthermore, set your schedule to enjoy special performances. Fire-breathers and stilt-walkers lurk all around the park, creating a fun and carnivalesque atmosphere.
Make sure you don’t miss the striking “IlluMania!” event at 9pm, a visually impressive show that features performers in snazzy costumes incorporating LED lights.
Meanwhile, clubgoers should float over to the “DJ of the Night” sessions, where dancing to popular music in a huge wave pool is a must-try experience.
Attractions aside, expect to enjoy the usual theme-park trappings. If you’re hungry, you can “wet” your appetite at outlets such as Jungle Jamboree, Cubes Chicken, Ayam Penyet or Swaggy’s. There’s even a mamak here!
In addition, visitors can rent tubes and floaties, and there are plenty of electronic lockers available for you to stash away your valuables safely.

All in all, a trip to a water park after dark can be just as enjoyable as going in the daytime – apart from it being darker and cooler, funnily enough.
So head on over to Night Splash and go with the flow… but don’t have TOO much fun, or you just might get hooked on nocturnal theme-park visits. It’s quite the slippery slope!
