The ocean is an endless expanse of mystery and wonder, a bountiful source of fantastic flavour.

And seafood aficionados are truly in for a treat this month, as the Imperial Lexis Kuala Lumpur hotel will be hosting a luxurious seafood buffet every weekend, showcasing an opulent selection of culinary treasures from the world beneath the waves.

At the SeaSational Weekend buffet, guests can enjoy a magnificent array of premium seafood, all meticulously curated and masterfully prepared by the hotel’s talented culinary team.

Accompanying this spread from Poseidon’s palace is a variety of international and local dishes, all beautifully presented and cooked to perfection.

The seafood, of course, is the highlight of this buffet. Guests can help themselves to favourites such as live oysters, white prawns and half-shell scallops, all piled on ice. Everything served here is fresh and flavourful, with the large tiger prawns a particularly tantalising treat.

Accompanying these are seasoned specialties such as Szechuan-style marinated jellyfish with cucumber and scallion, and braised baby octopus salad.

The latter, in particular, really stands out, with its zesty tang. Nearby stands a luxurious sushi and sashimi corner, alongside a cheese board with cold cuts: it’s everything you need to whet your appetite

If your tastes edge more toward deep-fried than deep sea, then head to the Frito Misto Bites section, which features crispy culinary treats such as tempura prawns, calamari and soft-shelled crab.

The salad bar is also well-stocked, with Mexican dips such as guacamole and salsa offered alongside the usual salad dressings.

Western food lovers will be spoilt for choice, with roasted lamb chops with eggplant caviar, roasted piri piri chicken, pan-seared salmon, smoked duck breast, lobster bisque and more all on offer.

The slow roast striploin is a highlight, its juicy and tender meat possessing a succulent texture that simply melts in the mouth. Also try the pizzas and pastas, especially the carbonara, presented within a giant cheese wheel!

There are also plenty of delectable dishes from the East, from Szechuan spicy chicken to Singapore curry crab, from beef rendang to butter crab with salted egg yolk.

And if you enjoy some spice with your seafood, stop by the buffet’s “Taste of India” section, and help yourself to favourites such as mutton rogan josh, butter chicken, chapatis and red lentil curry.

Alternatively, there’s also a section for Cantonese roast delicacies, an assorted array of dim sum, and even a station where you can craft your own noodle dish.

A hearty meal should end on a sweet note, and the dessert corner will definitely be one of the most popular spots here. This spot contains an ice kacang machine, an ice cream bar, and even a chocolate fountain!

Plenty of pastries also abound, with egg tarts, macarons, Nyonya kuih and crème bulee all available. The Strawberry Swiss Rolls and Dual Chocolate Verrine are particularly decadent.

All in all, the SeaSational Weekend buffet certainly boasts an impressive and diverse variety of culinary choices, with something to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.
