Animal communicator helps pets ‘talk’ to their owners

PETALING JAYA:
Nothing makes a pet owner happier than seeing their cat or dog flourish under their care. It makes their sacrifices, whether cooking homemade meals for them, taking them on daily walks or grooming their coats – all the more worthwhile.

But are your pets truly happy deep down in their doggy and kitty hearts? Or are they trying to tell you something that you can’t quite understand because you don’t speak their language?

This is the gap Lynn Heng, 31, hopes to fill.

“Animal communicators are the middle person who help to connect a pet and its owner to allow them to better understand each other and strengthen their bond,” the founder of Mystic Blessings By Lynn told FMT Lifestyle during a session she held at the Happy Pets Carnival at The Square by Jaya One recently.

First, she looks into the animals’ eyes, either directly or through a photograph. “We will say their name and age, among others and connect with them.”

She said a photograph was preferable because oftentimes, pets are easily distracted and might not make the lasting eye contact she needed to receive their “messages.” The messages, she said, came in the form of words but most often came to her as images.

She recalled one particular session where a dog had a message for her fur-mum who spent a lot of time preparing different types of food for her.

“I have met diva-like pets who demand their owner get them certain things like a toy!” she recalled.

There are also pets who have communicated that they didn’t want a sibling. Some, who have been spayed or neutered, have communicated their sadness at being denied the chance to have their own litters. “I am not saying that spaying isn’t good, but perhaps owners can seek us to know the pets’ true feelings first,” she said.

Pet owners can also prepare a list of questions they want Heng to ask their pet. “As much as I hate to say this, it’s ‘who is their favourite owner?’ or ‘who do they like better?’,” she said with a laugh.

There are times, however, when Heng can’t communicate with an animal no matter how hard she tries. It’s usually when the pet is sleepy.

Heng, an animal communicator for almost a year, shared that she has conducted sessions for dogs, cats, hamsters and even a frog and a gecko!

According to her, more and more people are requesting her services as many want to connect with their pets better.

She offers pet owners the option of adding Reiki, a form of Japanese energy healing, during the session.

It is believed that during a Reiki session, there is a transfer of “qi” or vital energy, via the palms of a practitioner which can bring healing to the body and mind. The practitioner either places their hands close to or on the body.

To date, in addition to humans, Heng has performed Reiki for cats and dogs. She stressed, however, that Reiki should be complemented with medicine.

She added that if she senses that energy centres in the body, also known as chakra points, are imbalanced, she combines Reiki with tuning fork therapy.

During tuning fork therapy, two-pronged instruments are used to create sound vibrations for healing.

For those sceptical about animal communication and Reiki, she had this to say: “You never try, you never know. It’s something to explore.”

She said there was one impactful animal communication session that she would always remember.

“There was a dog who was in critical condition at the vet and the owners were debating if they should put him to sleep. When I connected with the dog, he said that he wanted to die peacefully at home. They brought him back and the dog passed away,” she said.

“Animals have feelings too and animal communication is a tool to connect humans and their pets.”
