What they didn’t expect, however, was that the German Shepherd-mix would grow up to become one of the sweetest dogs they’ve ever known.
“In the end, her personality grew to be so cute that she practically welcomes anyone who comes into the house,” Low told FMT Lifestyle, shaking his head.
Not only is the social butterfly friendly to a fault, she also adores children, wagging her tail and asking for head pats when one approaches her. More, please!

Of course, this love extends to her own family members as well – she often gets the zoomies when she greets them after a day apart.
Full transparency, Low said Cherry loves his mother more than anyone else in the family and for a simple reason: it’s his mother who feeds Cherry her meals every day.
As much as she loves to eat, she only likes her canned dog food and nothing else. If you offer her a slice of bread, she’ll snort at it in utter disgust, and stomp off in the opposite direction.

Another funny fact about Cherry is that as sweet as she can be, she can get a tad jealous on occasion.
“When she picks up the scent of another dog on us when we come home, she walks away. She doesn’t like it when we play with the neighbour’s dog, either,” Low said. In fact, she’s even chased strangers’ dogs away because of this!
Occasionally, Cherry’s destructive side gets the better of her and she will destroy anything that takes her fancy. This ranges from simple stuffed toys to plastic bags.

When the awful deed is done and she anticipates getting into trouble with her humans, she slinks off to hide in a corner, or retreats to the balcony – her safe space. Eventually when confronted, she’ll pull out all the stops, flashing her best puppy-dog eyes, hoping to be spared a scolding. Needless to say, she gets off scot free every single time.
Sweet to the core, Cherry also has a mischievous side, often sneaking out of the house to play in the neighbourhood. “Luckily, she doesn’t venture far and comes home obediently when it’s time for dinner,” Low said.
