If there’s any barbecuing method that beats out the rest, it’s most certainly the Texas-style barbecue.
It’s a rare find in Malaysia but Beard Brothers BBQ in Tropicana Avenue offers authentic Texas-style barbecue that is not only delicious but halal too.
Opened in 2013 by Nazri Jameson, his winning recipe sees hungry customers thronging his restaurant salivating for tasty briskets and ribs.
The Texas-style barbecue is different from the usual barbecue in that it involves cooking meat with a “low and slow” method.

Meat is smoked to perfection for 14 hours over local firewood until it turns tender, juicy and flavourful.
However, some cuts like the rump, sirloin and flank are unsuitable for a barbecue.
Hence, the Beard Brothers have decided to turn these into tasty ingredients for two new culinary offerings that Malaysians are certain to welcome.
Umami Boru is a flavourful halal ramen which means “savoury bowl” in Japanese. It comes with different choices of meat – chicken, beef or seafood.

The ramen broth has generous portions of smoked meat and is cooked continuously for 12 hours to ensure that the meat flavour infuses the broth.
Don’t bother to resist drinking down the broth. It is really that good with the distinct taste of the meat elevating the broth.
The ramen noodles are incredibly springy and it is hard to avoid slurping entire lengths of it into your mouth.
For a good snack, grab a serving of the Chicken Karaage, which is served smoking hot.
The meat is incredibly tender and juicy and it will be hard to find anything as fried to perfection as this little side dish.

If Japanese is not really your thing, you will find yourself content munching on the range of sandwiches available at the new Beard Brothers Deli.
Made fresh every day with the Beard Brothers signature meat and homemade sauces, these sandwiches are quick and healthy snacks made with love and quality ingredients.
Try the BB New York pastrami, a delicious American-inspired sandwich with a juicy beef brisket pastrami.

Stuffed with pastrami that is cured for a fortnight and smoked for 14 hours, the sandwich is made even more flavourful with Swiss cheese and salted cabbage relish.
For some nosh from across the pond, get yourself the London Salt Beef sandwich instead.
A sandwich made with brined salt beef cooked for five hours, the salted meat goes well with the pickled onions and fresh cucumber wedged in between the sourdough rye bread slices.

Special mention has to go to the side dish of mac and cheese, which is very filling and can be eaten on its own.
The macaroni is soft and the homemade cheese sauce extremely delicious, with the shredded mozzarella and cheddar adding to the cheesy goodness.
However, the meal is not over yet, as there is still a well-kept secret in Beard Brothers that is yet to be revealed.

Its own special brand of cold brew, “RizalaR” is a must-try for any coffee lover.
Brewed for an entire day, the Irish Cream coffee has a strong taste with a subtle hint of vanilla and creamy nuttiness.
Even non-coffee drinkers will be impressed by the strong taste of the coffee, with its cocoa-infused flavour.
Fans of Harry Potter might want to drop by as the Beard Brothers also serve RizalaR Butterbeer.
Smooth and rich with flavour, it is certainly close to being a magical drink that you will take your time to savour.
Jameson said that there are plans underway to set up pop-up cafes and street food outlets in Kuala Lumpur.
This is to ensure that “More people can enjoy the taste of our artisanal meat in the form of quick and fresh snacks.”
