When Bubu, the Miniature Poodle, joined Melissa Chin’s family as a two-month-old puppy, not only did she bring much love and joy to all at home, she was also an amazing source of emotional support to a family member who was seriously ill at the time.

A year later, kind-hearted Bubu happily welcomed a pair of homeless kittens who wandered into Melissa’s garden and decided to stay put.

Clearly, these two tiny felines had their hearts set on adopting the human family living inside. They were also game on accepting the gentle Bubu as their older canine sister.

Mickey and Minnie, as christened by the family’s Filipino maid, were only a few weeks old at the time, and Bubu’s strong maternal instincts surfaced – she happily looked after the little fur balls as her own.

Growing up together has been a blast for the three and the ever young-at-heart Bubu, still playfully engages Mickey and Minnie with a friendly game of chase every so often.

Needless to say, the cats always win, escaping the energetic Bubu by jumping swiftly to higher ground, far from her sloppy kisses.
