Blissfully bold Bangkok Lane mee goreng in Subang

The stall at Restoran Ehsan Maju is a branch of the famous Bangkok Lane mee goreng in Penang.

Fried mee and squid make a delicious pairing.

If you’ve been hearing about the Bangkok Lane mee goreng at USJ then its time for you to check it out.

For those who aren’t familiar, there’s a rather well known mee goreng at Bangkok Lane in Georgetown, Penang. They offer a very compelling plate of this Indian dish compared to others on the island.

Of course, here in the Klang Valley Penang-style mee goreng is hard to come by, and the popular stall at Petaling Jaya’s SS5 ceased operation after the owner’s unfortunate passing on. So it has been not been easy to enjoy Penang-style mee goreng outside Penang for years.

Also on offer are mee rebus and rojak.

The stall at Restoran Ehsan Maju in USJ 2 is essentially a branch of the famous stall in Bangkok Lane, Penang.

The menu is kept simple, offering mee goreng with or without sotong, mee rebus with or without sotong and rojak, which is basically mee rebus minus the noodles.

The mee gorent at Restoran Ehsan Maju.

For taste, you will find it pretty spot on, except for the huge KL-style portion. It is pretty consistent with what is offered in Penang.

The flavours are good and all the ingredients are there but the fried shallots can be improved upon, and the sotong is a little too bland.

Other than that, definitely an awesome Penang-style mee goreng.
