Hundreds of fans had been waiting for him since the early hours of this morning not just to greet him, but to make sure they gave him the “superstar’ treatment that he so rightfully deserved.
“I’m so happy to have won this competition. I would like to thank all Malaysians who supported and inspired me throughout the Big Boss programme,” said Mugen who is meeting more fans in Batu Caves today.
Starting off as a model, then as an actor and singer, Mugen is the first Malaysian to join the 105-day Bigg Boss programme, in its third season which kicked off on June 23. Its two previous seasons were held last year and in 2017.
He was announced as the winner of the reality programme hosted by the legendary Kamal Hasan, India’s iconic actor and filmmaker.
His participation in the programme required him to stay at the Bigg Boss house for 105 days together with other contestants where their movements were followed by social media users including those from Malaysia.
The Bigg Boss finale was aired on Sunday (Oct 6) on Astro’s Vijay TV channel (Channel 224).
While Mugen took the top spot, second place went to Kollywood (Tamil cinema) choreographer Santhosh Kumar or Sandy.
Sri Lankan news anchor Losliya Mariyanesan and Kollywood actress Sherin Shrinagar took the third and fourth place respectively.
Earlier, Mugen won the gold ticket, which qualified him to the finals after undergoing a week filled with mental and physical challenges.
He became a YouTube sensation after his single ‘Kayalvizhi’, released in 2016, became popular with digital audiences.
The Bigg Boss programme features 16 selected participants from the film, television and music industry, and is held at a unique house isolated from the outside world.
In the show, contestants or “housemates” are given various challenges and their activities recorded by 60 cameras.
The public vote for the candidate of their choice and those who get lower votes get eliminated over 105 days. The contestant who remains till the end, earns the top prize.
