Since opening its doors, hotel Alila Bangsar has been the talk of the town for quite a while now.
The Pacific Standard Bar (PSB), located on level 41, is a stylish cocktail lounge and bar which exudes the old-world glamour of mid-20th century Los Angeles.
This classy American style cocktail bar focuses on quality cocktails, craft spirits, and a soundtrack to uplift, intrigue and excite.
Let’s set the mood. We just got off work and need a drink. The sun is about to set and after a long day at work we would like to go somewhere we’re welcomed.
Where we can enjoy the beauty of nature as well as man’s ingenuity with alcohol. We feel like going on an adventure.
We don’t necessarily want to be the star of this escapade but merely to tag-along, to soak in the excitement without doing much work.
PSB has the requirements for the perfect evening all laid out. Start off by scanning the menu, very much inspired by the charm of Hollywood.
Divided into 4 different categories, the menu caters to everyone and their preferred liquor in cocktails.
Mai Tai

The epitome of in-house goodness is the Mai Tai, the cocktail synonymous with tropical locales.
Normally a concoction of rum, curacao liqueur and boxed juices, this version takes any artificiality out of the equation by using a house-made coconut rum and fresh pineapple juice.
There’s nothing like catching the sunset with a delicious Mai Tai in hand.
Old Fruit Fashioned

A fruity take on the well-known Old Fashioned, this cocktail is the perfect example of how PSB likes its drinks to be – classic with a twist.
This strong drink celebrates all the goodness of the smoky scotch with cognac, curacao, and Morlacco cherry liqueur.
Morgan’s Moscow Mule
It is tradition that the Moscow Mule be served in a copper mug or cup. PSBs version doesn’t stray too far from the original recipe (vodka and ginger beer).
It adds a spicy kick to the concoction with a dash of house-made basil syrup chilli vodka.
Fat White Russian

Those with a sweet tooth even when it comes to their cocktails will be pleasantly surprised by the Fat White Russian.
While spiked milkshakes are cliche, doughnuts with liquor are not. One of the most complex-to-make drinks in the menu, this must-order’s highlight is the house-made doughnut liquor foam.
It is painstakingly harvested from a combination of cream, doughnuts and rum. The foam is then topped on a classic White Russian cocktail, which comprises Kahlúa and vodka.
