Quietly tucked in The Zhongshan Building, Piu Piu Piu is a casual and intimate cafe-bar inspired by the “standing bars” commonly found in Japan.
Located on the second floor of the building, the only way to get to this spot is through Tintabudi bookshop.

The cafe is cosy and comfortable but there may not be much space there for the whole gang to chill.
Nonetheless, you should still pay a visit, as Piu Piu Piu has a lot more to offer despite probably being the smallest cafe in Kuala Lumpur.
Three reasons why you should check out Piu Piu Piu Cafe
1. Get to know the unique owner
If you see a bespectacled, bearded man with tattoos standing at the bar counter, that is Unagi — the owner.
Having travelled to Japan quite often in the past, Unagi dreamed of owning a small bar, hidden from the hustle and bustle of the city — which is why he chose this 1950s-constructed shophouse in Kampung Attap as the spot for his cafe.

2. Nothing beats good coffee and cakes
The drinks here are on the calling card. A coffee enthusiast himself, Unagi believes that coffee connects people and makes them happy, which is why he sources himself the beans from local roasters Aim Coffee and uses them for his espresso, black coffee and white coffee drinks.

Of course, good coffee goes along well with home-baked pastries. On your lucky day, if there’s any left, be sure to order their most popular items – Burnt Cheesecake, Apple Crumble, and Nangka Cheesecake.
3. Making new friends is now made easier
Thanks to the intimate space, you have little choice but to socialise. Even you if plan to squeeze yourself into a corner, you can’t avoid bumping into people especially when the cafe is at its peak hour — usually at lunch time.
But fret not, the usual crowd coming here is the cool and friendly kind. So, maybe it’s time to put away your smartphone for a while and make some real friends.
