BEIJING: China has ordered Fan Bingbing, one of the country’s best-known actresses, to pay taxes and fines amounting to hundreds of millions of yuan, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported, without elaborating.
The 37-year-old actress, who has more than 60 million followers on the Twitter-like Weibo, has vanished from public view amid a scandal about movie stars under-reporting their earnings.
Chinese tax authorities have been investigating the industry – including Fan – for possible evasion.
