A piping hot bowl of soupy kuey teow or mee suah served with fresh seafood is the ultimate comfort food, and nobody quite does it like B & Best at Kelana Jaya.

However, another hawker stall is now vying for first place. Going by the name Pong Kee Seafood Noodles, it is located in Restoran 88 along Jalan Ipoh.

Restoran 88 is a humble enough kopitiam situated along Jalan Batu Ambar, just off the main stretch of Jalan Ipoh.

Pong Kee Seafood Noodles is the biggest stall in this kopitiam, so there’s no way you will miss it.

Finding a spot to park your car can be slightly challenging in this bustling area but shouldn’t be too much of a problem if you’re willing to walk a little for a good bowl of seafood noodles.

Like most seafood noodle places, one can order either noodles (kuey teow, yellow mee, mee suah, mihun), or porridge to go with a selection of seafood, including a variety of fish, lala, oysters, abalone, and so forth.

The Tiger Garupa and oyster (RM24) with kuey teow was superb. The soup base was subtle, and the portion was pretty decent with probably as much as a handful of oysters and expertly cut fish fillet making up the serving.

Despite the absence of the awesome sambal that B & Best serves with their dishes, this version was so flavourful, it didn’t really need the sambal.

For those of us from this side of Klang Valley, Pong Tee is definitely worth a try. The hawker stall also has some die-hard fans.
