Chris Carmack, one of the stars of the musical TV series “Nashville” has been cast in a recurring role in the fifteenth season of ABC’s popular medical drama. The American actor will play the role of an orthopaedic surgeon newly arrived at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. His character will be known by the nickname “Ortho God”. Other details about the role, including the character’s full name, have not yet been divulged.

Departures and an unexpected return
Carmack joins the series just two months after the announcement that Kim Raver will return to play cult character Dr Teddy Altman, who will also have a recurring role in the forthcoming season. The two new doctors will be aiming to fill the void left by the departures of Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw who played longstanding characters, Dr April Kepner and Dr Arizona Robbins, respectively.
Scott Speedman may also be returning to reprise his role as Dr Nick Marsh, a surgeon who got on very well with Dr Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Season 14 also introduced six new interns, but it’s not currently certain that they will be returning.
Carmack played singer Will Lexington in the series “Nashville”, which also aired on ABC. He has also had parts in “NCIS”, “Desperate Housewives”, “Smallville” and “Newport Beach”.
Season 15 of “Grey’s Anatomy” will air on Thursdays, starting on September 27 with a two-hour-long opening episode.
