For those who simply cannot resist the comforting and flavourful broth in a bowl of steaming-hot Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee, look no further than Restaurant Red Leaf in Kuala Lumpur.
The restaurant is located at the intersection of Jalan Loke Yew and Lorong Loke Yew. However, despite being right along the main road, the restaurant is somewhat easy to miss as it’s partially hidden from view by a huge signboard that says Restoran Shoong City.

The Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee stall here is manned by the owner, a Penangite himself, who has been operating at the same spot for some 30 years.

The standard bowl of Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee goes for RM6, but if you’re in the mood for the deluxe version, ask for extra prawns – it costs only RM3 more.
The Penang Hokkien Prawn Mee here is served with the usual sides of sea-caught prawns, kangkung, bean sprouts, pork slices, fried shallots, and your choice of yellow noodles, mee hoon, or a combination of both.
The signature broth has the unmistakable taste and aroma of prawns with a hint of sweet seafood. With the rather generous sides that make up this dish, you get a hearty meal that’s nutritious and lip-smackingly good.
