Mexican airline slashes airfares to South Korea for helping Mexico advance in World Cup

To show South Korea just how grateful they are for inadvertently sending their country's soccer team to advance in the World Cup tournament, Mexico's flagship carrier AeroMexico is slashing their airfares between Mexico and South Korea.

“We love you Korea!” the airline tweeted this week, after South Korea defeated team Germany in a stunning 2-0 defeat in Russia.

Not only did the win knock the last World Cup champion out of the competition, the results also pushed Mexico to advance to the next qualifying round. It’s the furthest the country has advanced since 1986.

In honor of the results, AeroMexico is slashing airfares for flights between Mexico and South Korea by 20 percent.

But the sale won’t last. Travelers have until July 1 to book their ticket — as low as US $899 – and the offer is good for travel until Feb. 28, 2019.
