KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics has launched its much-anticipated flagship Galaxy S9 and S9+ which retail from RM3,299 to RM4,399 starting today.
Available in three different colours, midnight black, coral blue, and lilac purple, the smartphones were inspired by the current way of communicating on the social media.
Head of IT and Mobile Business of Samsung Malaysia Electronics KM Liew said with the evolvement of self-expression, consumers were now using images, videos, and emojis to convey their thoughts.
“The Galaxy S9 and S9+ now come with the new AR emoji, super slow-mo, and super low-light features and these will enable consumers to discover and re-imagine a whole new level of visual communication, tailored to their own unique voices,” said Liew at the launch of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ yesterday.
He said Samsung had always been at the forefront in producing amazing smartphone cameras and with a deep commitment to consumers, Samsung had taken the latest smartphones to another level by redesigning and upgrading the camera.
With today’s consumers wanting a smartphone camera with state-of-the-art technology, not just for taking pictures but to also tell their own unique story, both model cameras provide super speed dual pixel sensor with dedicated processing power and memory to take superior quality shots.
The dual aperture camera automatically adjusts to its lighting conditions by letting in more light when it is dark through its greater aperture lens (F1.5) and switching to its lower aperture lens (F2.4) under bright light to ensure the photos taken are crisp and clear.
Apart from that, the dual camera setup is available via the Galaxy S9+ as well, allowing users to continue shooting professional portrait shots with the phone’s ‘Live Focus’ mode.
The devices support expandable memory of up to 400GB via a Micro SD card.
South Korean actor Park Bo-gum also joined the launch by making a special appearance to demonstrate some of the smartphones’ features. Held at the centre court of Pavilion, a Kuala Lumpur mall, the event attracted thousands of fans.
To celebrate its launch in Malaysia, Samsung Malaysia Electronics will be going on a limited-time roadshow promotion at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Queensbay Mall in Penang, and AEON Mall Bandar Dato’ Onn in Johor Bahru.
From today until March 18, customers who purchase a Galaxy S9 or S9+ will be eligible for exclusive gifts including a free Samsung wireless charger stand, a 30% discount on Samsung Gear Sport, a RM50 discount for selected phone covers, and a 0% easy payment plan for up to 12 months.
