Middleton, who is herself an international fashion icon, was hosting a reception for the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange (CFE).
The event, which was held on Monday, saw Chandran presenting his creations alongside other famous designers such as Stella McCartney, The Star reported.
Chandran, who was Malaysia’s sole representative, told digital lifestyle platform Buro 24/7 Malaysia that he was looking forward to displaying a design that showed Malaysia’s culture and tradition in a new light.
“I have explored with textures and materials that included the songket – a traditional Malaysian brocade textile that is usually hand-woven, and intricately patterned with gold or silver threads, favoured mostly by the royalty,” he was quoted as saying.
The CFE, which features designers and artisans from 53 countries, aims to create partnerships between designing talents in Commonwealth countries.
