
He said the mortality rate for men diagnosed with breast cancer was higher than women since the cancer was more aggressive in men.
“The male breast cancer may be due to a genetic factor,” he told reporters after the Pink Walk Kaseh programme organised by the Kota Bharu People’s Association (POKB) at the Maktab Sultan Ismail (SIC) field, here today.
The 4.5-kilometre walk that saw 7,000 participants, was officiated by Tengku Puan Temenggong Kelantan, Tunku Puan Sri Noor Hayati Tunku Abdul Rahman.
Also present at the event were POKB president Sheikh Ahmad Dusuki Mohamad and POKB’s cancer ambassador Khadijah Ibrahim.
Dr Imi Sairi added, a total of 250 to 300 cancer patients were diagnosed every year in Kelantan, in which 1% were men.
