Syed Azlan of Arab & Aidit dies of heart attack

Popular 1990s singer Syed Azlan Syed Abu Bakar of the Arab & Aidit group was reported to have died of a heart attack today.

Music fans learned of his death in a Facebook posting by his cousin Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil, who said that Syed Azlan, the ‘Arab’ of the group, would be laid to rest in Kampung Tenang, Labis, Negeri Sembilan, after Asar prayers.

Arab was said to have passed away in hospital after having suffered a heart attack while travelling from Johor to Kuala Lumpur, according to mStar Online.

He was taken to the nearest hospital and passed away at 5.30am. His remains were then transferred to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban for a post-mortem.

Messages of condolences have begun pouring in for the singer on Facebook, with one Fauzi Omar informing of the sad news, saying that they were both former artists and repertoire (A&R) managers in the industry.

Singer Hazami also posted on Facebook how Arab was once his mentor.

Arab and Aidit made their mark in the music scene in the 90s, and released their hit song Bila Bulan Berwarna Biru in 2005.
