Rockaway’s 2016 return will be marked by an unprecedented two major festivals.
The first festival will be the two-day Rockaway Weekender event at the Sepang International Circuit on October 29 and 30.
This event will feature renowned German rock band Scorpions, Aussie band Wolfmother, and local Malaysian rock mainstays Wings and Muzza’s Mayhem, as well as regional acts such as WTNSS, Daarchlea and Artefacts.
“We have taken a while to reintroduce Rockaway because we were planning something huge,” said Livescape Group Director of Live Events Rahul Kukreja.
“And with the line-up that we have announced today, I think rock fans not just from Malaysia, but also regionally, are going to be very excited.
“We have managed to put together a legendary list of bands from Scorpions, to Butterfingers’ long awaited comeback in close to seven years.”
More than 10,000 fans are expected for each day of the Rockaway Weekender, which will be held at the B Hillstand of the Sepang circuit to allow concertgoers to watch the concurrent MotoGP race.
The second Rockaway festival, dubbed Rockaway The Saga Continues, will take place on November 19, and will see international bands Third Eye Blind, Taking Back Sunday and The Get Up Kids.
This festival will be held at Extreme Park, Bukit Jalil, and will see Malaysian legends The Alleycats and Zainal Abidin making a triumphant return to the Malaysian stage.
The festival will also see local legends Butterfingers breaking their seven year hiatus, and One Buck Short marking their 13th anniversary show.
Hujan and OAG, two renowned Malaysian rock bands, will also be featured in a special collaboration as the two bands share the stage in a live band battle.
Tickets to both festivals are available for sale via www.galactix.asia. Fans can also head to the A Sunday Rockaway Affair event at TREC Kuala Lumpur on August 28 to purchase tickets at a 15 per cent discount.
Tickets are available from RM98 onwards for both single-day and two-day weekend passes to both festivals.
