
The world No 3 pair avenged their defeat by Thai pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Suppissara Paewsampran at the Swiss Open last month by beating them in straight games of 21-17, 21-14 today.
The Malaysian married couple took 39 minutes to defeat the much younger Thai duo, who are ranked No 13 in the world.
Both pairs have won three times each in their six encounters so far.
In the men’s singles event, Justin Hoh found world No 4 Jonatan Christie from Indonesia too strong for him, losing 13-21,19-21 in 46 minutes in the second round.
Women’s singles player Goh Jin Wei was also knocked out in the second round of the championship. She lost 15-21, 16-21 to Supanda Katethong from Thailand in 35 minutes.
Three top Malaysian men’s doubles pairs and a mixed doubles duo will be featured in the last 16 matches later today.
