
She said the 2024 Paris Olympic Games are just a few months away and badminton contributes the majority of Malaysian athletes in the Road to Gold (RTG) programme.
“We need to focus and minimise disruptions during such a crucial preparation period,” she said in a tweet on X today.
Yeoh said the Road to Gold programme was established to withstand leadership changes in the youth and sports ministry or the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) because it has two co-chairs.
“Having said that, I do hope Norza will reconsider his decision,” she said.
Last July, Norza, who is also the president of OCM, announced that he would leave BAM after the Paris Olympics. However, he surprised everyone a month later by announcing his resignation at the end of this year.
In October, the BAM council unanimously agreed to appoint investment, trade, and industry minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz to replace Norza.
