The 22-year-old will face a sterner test next against India’s Lakshya Sen, who is currently ranked 12th in the world.
In the men’s doubles, the country’s top pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik also had an easy passage into the next round after defeating Boon Xin Yuan and Wong Tien Chi 21-14, 21-9 in an all-Malaysian affair.
Aaron-Wooi Yik, the world No 2 pair, will face China’s Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang in the second round tomorrow.
The Chinese duo beat them in the India Open final two days ago.
Weikeng-Chang moved into the second round after beating Germany’s Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel 21-18, 22-20.
