KOTA KINABALU:
The state government may extend its food basket relief programme to include those who are not registered with the federal government’s e-Kasih programme, according to deputy chief minister Bung Moktar Radin.

However, state government sources told FMT the matter would be decided on Wednesday.

Bung Moktar, who is state works minister, said on Twitter yesterday that “the current food basket assistance is no longer guided by e-Kasih, anyone who is affected (due to Covid-19) is eligible for assistance”.

Netizens had raised the matter of people not receiving the food baskets aid because they are not on the e-Kasih list.

FMT is awaiting response from Bung.

Apart from those on the e-Kasih list, food baskets are also distributed to those affected, including residents in lockdown areas and to families in quarantine.

State community development minister Shahelmey Yahya said a total of 90,471 food baskets have been distributed around the state so far.
