The clinic aims to deliver world-class football training and to promote the values associated with the identity of Real Madrid to youth players in Malaysia.
Apart from Malaysia, FRM have set up clinics across the globe, including the United States, Australia and Hong Kong.
“The Real Madrid Foundation was established to promote, in Spain and abroad, values inherent in sport and which act as tools that drive personal development and leadership on and off the playing field.
“We bring to Malaysia the technical excellence, experience and spirit of Real Madrid, the greatest club in world football history,” the club said in a statement today.
Held at ECiM, the residential programme will allow participants to completely immerse themselves in football for either one week or two week periods.
Alongside their football sessions, participants will also benefit from an educational programme designed to boost core interpersonal skills.
The launch in ECiM here today was attended by former Real Madrid player and legendary Brazilian footballer Roberto Carlos, alongside former Malaysian national captain Soh Chin Aun and Queens Park Rangers (QPR) owner and chairman Tony Fernandes.
“It is not only about football itself, but it is also about respecting parents, hard work and so on. Hopefully, with this collaboration we will gain more ideas,” Fernandes told reporters after the launch.
Carlos, who visited Singapore yesterday before flying in to Malaysia said that hard work is pivotal to any youth players’ success.
“For any young person who wants to succeed in life or football, they have to work hard, know their responsibilities in school and respect their families. The matter of combining studies and sports can be done through hard work,” Carlos said.
Carlos, 43, retired from professional football in 2015 after retiring from international football in 2006, but still works for Real Madrid as a club ambassador. He was also a part of the World Cup-winning Brazil team in 2002.
