BNM names Madelena as assistant governor for strategy, sustainability

The central bank says Madelena Mohamed will oversee the new sector, which includes the governor’s office, as well as the legal and strategic communications units.

PETALING JAYA:
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has appointed Madelena Mohamed as its assistant governor, overseeing the new strategy and sustainability sector, effective Feb 1, 2025.

In a statement today, the central bank said the sector includes the governor’s office, legal department, strategic communications department and sustainability unit.

“Madelena began her career with BNM in 1993, where she first served in the economics department.

“Over the span of her 32 years of service, she has taken on several leadership positions, including the director of the Islamic finance department, financial surveillance department, prudential finance policy department, and most recently, the sustainability unit,” according to the statement.

Madelena holds a degree in economics, majoring in accounting and finance, from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

She is also a chartered financial analyst (CFA) charterholder.
