
Its executive director and chief technology officer, Sayed Mustafa Ali, said the company managed to capture around 10% to 12% of the local market from 2019 till today.
“The 50% market share, however, is not necessarily solely Orient’s share, but we also share the portion with other telecommunications companies like Telekom Malaysia Bhd or Time Dotcom Bhd.
“Currently, we are building our sales force as we plan to hire up to 30 salespeople in the next six months, and we can then embark on this journey,” he said at a press conference after launching the Orbit 10,000 Premium Business internet plan.
The Orbit 10,000 Premium Business plan, with 10 gigabits per second (Gbps) capacity, is designed for large businesses as well as small and medium-sized enterprises seeking to redefine their connectivity with 10,000 megabits per second (Mbps) internet speed.
In a statement, the company said the service also integrates a suite of advanced technologies and system capabilities designed to meet the rigorous demands of today’s enterprises.
Meanwhile, Orient Telecoms assistant vice-president of network engineering Khairil Hafidz said the Orbit 10,000 network would focus on the Klang Valley area for now.
“We have plans to expand the network to the east coast and Peninsular Malaysia for the next three to five years, but for now we will develop the network in the Klang Valley first,” he added.
