XPENG said the partnership will enable XPENG to bring its latest smart EVs to local consumers in the Hong Kong market with branded showrooms, after-sales support, and comprehensive guidance through each stage of the buying process.

“Coupled with Sime Darby Motors’ years of sales experience in the Hong Kong automotive market, we are excited to bring the premium XPENG experience to Hong Kong,” said XPENG vice-chairman and president, Brian Gu in a statement.

Meanwhile, Sime Darby Motors (HK) Limited managing director of Hong Kong & Macau, Tommy Wong said XPENG’s ambition to establish itself as a smart car leader will enable it to meet Hong Kong consumers’ demand for high-quality electric vehicles.

As XPENG officially enters Hong Kong, Sime Darby Motors said that XPENG focus models, including the latest pure electric Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) model G6 and the flagship pure electric seven-seater Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) X9, will be available in mid-May, and expected delivery starting from the third quarter this year.

“Alongside Hong Kong, XPENG is also set to enter Macau with partner Xin Kang Heng Holding Ltd, offering XPENG models G9, X9, G6, and P7i. The delivery of left-hand drive models will begin in May,” it said.

XPENG said it has already experienced rapid growth in the 10 years since its establishment in 2014.

As of the end of last year, its cumulative historical delivery volume had exceeded 400,000, and it had delivered more than 140,000 new vehicles in 2023 alone.
