PETALING JAYA:
JLand Group Sdn Bhd (JLG) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Gentari Sdn Bhd today in a move to integrate renewable energy solutions and green mobility across the former’s residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Under the MoU, both parties will undertake feasibility studies on the integration of Gentari’s renewable energy solutions at selected strategic assets and industrial parks belonging to JLG.

The implementation of the green mobility ecosystem in JLG’s selected projects will commence in the third quarter of 2023.

JLG is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Johor Corporation that focuses on the group’s real estate and infrastructure businesses.

Gentari is a clean energy solutions entity introduced by national oil corporation Petronas in June last year. It aims to deliver integrated sustainable energy solutions and capture opportunities in the energy transition in Malaysia and beyond.

JLG director of real estate and infrastructure division Akmal Ahmad said the partnership with Gentari “signifies a milestone in our progress towards decarbonisation initiatives and enhanced capabilities in the renewable energy sector”.

“Through our joint effort with Gentari, we are further equipped to act on our continued commitment to sustainable growth.

“The wide-scale deployment of the green mobility and renewable energy ecosystems across our main developments – namely Menara JLand, Komtar JBCC, B5 Johor Street Market, Ibrahim International Business District, and Bandar Dato’ Onn showcase the depth and extent of the partnership’s value creation potential, considering the number of end-users present throughout our operating entities,” he said in a joint statement here today.

He added that JLG and Gentari would explore the potential installation of an electric vehicle charging hub at Ibrahim Technopolis.

“With the deployment of these renewable energy solutions and green mobility infrastructure at JLG’s assets and industrial parks, we are advancing the clean energy transition through a multi-industry approach,” he added.

Gentari CEO Sushil Purohit said “with JLand Group, we are able to simultaneously explore initiatives under our core pillars of renewable energy, hydrogen, and green mobility, cutting across the electron value chain to create greater value in the path towards net zero”.
